Once again, I teamed up with fellow producer “The Maker” to create a visualizer for his lofi cover of “Great Fairy Fountain”, a classic track from the “Legend of Zelda” video game series. Having grown up playing various entries of this Nintendo masterpiece, I was looking forward to giving life to the cover art that Slimeomon illustrated for this release.
For this release, Maker provided me with an illustration of Link and Navi standing on a pond surrounded by flowers, plants and trees. Overlooking this scene is the Triforce, the sacred relic of Hyrule and a recognizable symbol of the series, surrounded by a starry sky. The whole scene has a serene ambience to it, interrupted only by the eerie glow of the Ultimate Power.
During the process of editing this project, I acquired some practical knowledge surrounding water effects, more complex puppet warping and the use of the “Glow” effect on After Effects. This resulted in a more intricate and shinier final product that attempts to amplify the vibe of the artwork. For example, by using mesh warping and some blending effects, I was able to make the vegetation around Link pulse and vibrate to the rhythm of the Triforce. Furthermore, using some intricate puppet warping, I gave Link’s idle animation a sense of depth by making his right foot look like it’s moving forwards and backwards. This helped sell the idea that this 2-D drawing of Link was adjusting his posture to inspect his sword in a 3-D space.
Overall, all these techniques resulted in a more intricate and shinier final product that attempts to amplify the eerie power of the Triforce in this normally calm and serene scene. Working on this visualizer has also helped me find new ways to make my editing more detailed and intriguing.
