Spontaneity can be, at times, a catalyst for opportunities. That spontaneity was the driving reason behind my presence at the November edition of Quata Quata, a series of local DJing events spearheaded by organizers Jessica Mombotch, Anne-Sybil Yacé and Chady Nlandu.

Mixing various shades of afro-beat, house and electronic music with live instrumentation and digital art, Quata Quata provides one of the most mind-bending and musically lush independent live events I have seen in the Ottawa-Gatineau region so far. The presence of said events, organized by youthful and energetic people, is sure to contribute to the city’s resurging nightlife.
